Nursery Rhyme

Little Hen Rhyme
I had a little hen, the prettiest ever seen,
She washed up the dishes and kept the house clean.
She went to the mill to fetch us some flour,
And always got home in less than an hour.
She baked me my bread, she brewed me my ale,
She sat by the fire and told a fine tale!

Meaning of the Little Hen rhyme & lyrics
'Little Hen' is a term of endearment used in Scotland and therefore implies a rhyme with Scottish origins. 'Little Hen' would often be used when referring to the daughter of the house. The imagination of children, however, take the meaning of all words  literally,  thus any illustrations of this story always depict a little hen!

A couple of reference pictures for the interior

A couple of reference pictures for the hen

Some character concepts

These concepts are just not working need to draw more.

Getting closer but still not what I want.
This is the one I was looking for.

Basic interior rough (not working)
I like this for a basic layout needs a table, now two more layouts: fireplace, grandfather clock
I finally got the interiors the way I want them this is scene 1
This is the second scene
Here are the turnarounds finally flushed out
and here are some action poses

Vehicle

Any vehicle between 1930 and 1950: I chose a 1930 Studebaker

I first had to find a reference picture
I then decided to trace over the image to see what I get
After that I free handed the same picture to see what I get
This seems to be a bit more like a cartoon, nest step is to ink it.
To add dimension I'll add some color
Now for a color variation
and a side by side composition

Character Design

Setting: Itʼs 1815, and a small Old West town called Smithville.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

Dillon: The lazy, but brave hero. He is tall and thin, with blond hair and dirty, ragged
cowboy clothes. His clothes and hat all should look a mite too big for him, since they
are hand-me-downs from his out-of-luck father. He has the natural ability as a
gunslinger, but he never practices. Few people know that he could be the best there
ever was, if he had any motivation in him. Dillion is very likable, as he has a heart of
gold, cares for the town and all the people in it, and treats his best friend, his horse,
like a brother.
Brent: The sheriff gone wrong. He is a dark-haired dapper dresser from England.
Why he came to this small town is a mystery to all. He maintains a pleasant
demeanor, but when people arenʼt around, he enjoys being cruel to animals.

I'm choosing to design a character for Brent.
These are some of my references:
